Set during World II in Tobruk, Libya, the film follows Czech volunteers Jiri and Jan as they fight alongside the Allied forces against the German army. Eighteen‑year‑old Jiri Pospichal enlists in the Czechoslovak army, only to have his youthful notions of heroism shattered by the harsh desert combat, strained relationships within his unit, and the ever‑present threat of death.
