A faithful dramatization of Virginia Woolf’s novel. A lecturer, his family, Aunt Lily, an old friend and student Charles Tansley spend a summer in a Cornish house before World War I. The stern Mr. Ramsay scolds everyone, while Mrs. Ramsay keeps the family together. Aunt Lily paints, and the planned sail to the lighthouse is repeatedly postponed.
