In Naples, retired professor Bellavista, a devotee of Ancient Greek philosophy, spends his days in a plush apartment delivering life lessons to his low‑brow friends, who are enchanted by his reasoning. Their tranquil routine is shaken when a meticulous Milanese director moves in, highlighting the clash between Naples’ leisurely “philosophy of pleasure and delay” and the north’s strict punctuality.
