Upright professor Filippo “Pippo” Bottini teaches in a Roman school, yearning for a traditional, Heart‑book‑style setting. The turmoil of the 1970s—strikes, occupations, armed students, feminist colleagues—draws him into the post‑1968 protest maelstrom, eventually making him a drug courier. Arrested, he is freed on bail by his colleague and lover Lalla, giving him a chance at redemption.
