Drew hand-picks three agents deemed failures to be his Throwaways. In truth, he skimmed their dossiers and selected them hoping the mission would fail. This calculated move sets up a volatile, high-stakes operation.

The team learns that a mysterious hacker has shut down Chicago's power grid using Pantheon, a volatile program linked to a master encryption key. The buyer is revealed to be Konstantin, a pro-Soviet defector, with Teebs the anarchist behind the key. The revelation heightens the stakes and drives the pursuit.

An assassination attempt on Holden triggers a crisis moment for the team. After the attack, Connelly disbands the Throwaways but commends their performance, signaling a temporary end to the mission. Drew contemplates returning to working alone.
