Aziza and her husband Abdullah eke out a living as day laborers, moving from farm to farm. Their existence is marked by constant uncertainty and hard physical work. While she is picking potatoes in a field, a guard brutally rapes her. She hides the resulting pregnancy and decides to terminate the child after birth.
