A game of fascination and seduction, it follows two immigrant couples—Teresa and Angelo, Pierina and Massimo—struggling to survive in a new country. Unexpected love blossoms between Massimo and Teresa, driving them to defy family and cultural expectations, abandon their partners, and pursue a new destiny. Quatrilho, a card game where betraying one’s partner is key to winning, underscores the film’s themes.
