The Incident

Rogue cop Marco confronts Carlos and Oliver at their apartment and tries to haul them away at gunpoint. Carlos demands a warrant, but Marco admits he has none and orders them to follow him. The brothers overpower him and flee into the stairwell, starting their escape.

Marco shoots Carlos in the leg during the chase and seems stunned by his own action. Oliver hurries to his brother and applies what aid he can while they run deeper into the building.

The stairwell turns out to be an endless loop, trapping the brothers in a repeating maze. A distant explosion punctuates the peril as they realize there may be no exit.

Marco searches his wallet and discovers a tiny miniature playing card he does not recognize, tearing it in half without explanation. The moment deepens the sense that something larger may be at work.

Carlos dies from his injuries the following day while Oliver watches helplessly. He mourns, trying to tell Carlos to appreciate the present even as hope fades.

A vending machine on the stairwell reappears fully stocked after exactly 24 hours, unsettling Marco and challenging his logic. Oliver uses the moment to disarm Marco, heightening the tension between them.

The two argue about whether Marco’s shooting was a conscious act or fate, dragging metaphysical questions into their grim surroundings. They confront the possibility that their reality is shaped by their emotions.

Sandra, Daniel, and Camila prepare to visit her ex-husband Roberto, with Daniel packing a deck of miniature cards that mirrors Marco's discovery. Roberto is anxious about the trip but hopeful it will strengthen the family.

On the road, Roberto carelessly offers Camila fruit juice, triggering an allergic reaction and a growing emergency. A green bamboo piece is found by Roberto and discarded, while Daniel carries his own deck of cards.

Roberto accidentally destroys Camila's inhaler, making the asthma crisis irreparable. A loud explosion sounds in the distance, and Sandra realizes they have reached a point of no return.

Camila dies without her inhaler, and Sandra abandons her children, beginning a downward spiral of fear and despair. Daniel and the others eventually traverse the endless road until they converge at the same spot, giving up hope of escape.

Time has looped for decades; both groups remain trapped in their respective dimensions, endlessly duplicating possessions and living repetitive lives. Sandra and Roberto grow old while Daniel and Oliver continue to adapt to their cycles.

The elderly Roberto and Marco reveal to the younger Daniel and Oliver that their world is a constructed alternate dimension fed by their emotions. Roberto explains a raft-like bamboo past incident that ties these cycles together, and Marco claims to be Daniel.

Roberto urges Daniel to break the cycle by refusing to embrace fate; Marco echoes the same idea to Oliver. The younger versions hesitate but ultimately choose to pursue their destinies, fueling a new set of cycles.

In the final turn, Daniel becomes Marco and prepares to arrest Oliver and Carlos in a police car, while Oliver becomes Karl, the Russian bellhop who operates an elevator for newlyweds. Their actions trigger a fresh dimension in which tragedy leads to a new 35-year orbit.
