A largely lost film often mistaken for Paul Wegener’s 1920 version tells a fresh take on the Golem legend. In 16th‑century Prague, Rabbi Loew animates a clay statue to protect Jews from brutal persecution. The dormant figure is discovered in a ruined synagogue in the 20th century, re‑awakened by an antique dealer who uses it as a servant. When the Golem falls for the dealer’s wife and is spurned, it erupts into a violent rampage.
