Based on Anatoly Sofronov's play, the story follows a striking new cook who arrives at a collective farm in Kuban. Many men chase her, but she spurns the foolish suitors. Eventually true love wins, and despite jealousy and foolishness that create many complications, the couple manages to untangle the misunderstandings.
