A well‑meaning samurai discovers that his strict adherence to bushido makes him an outcast and dangerously vulnerable among his peers. To protect his clan he assumes others’ crimes, accepting a year’s exile with the promise of reinstatement once political turmoil eases. As betrayals pile up, he realizes he must spend his life as a ronin, forever at risk of being hunted.
