The Washing Machine

The Kolbas sisters, Vida, Ludmilla, and Maria, live together in a penthouse. Vida breaks up with mob boss Yuri Petkov after discovering he engraved a bracelet bearing Maria's nickname "Sissy," which hints at Yuri's possessiveness and sows mistrust.

Late at night, Ludmilla notices the washing machine running and blood seeping from the door. When the door opens, Yuri lies dead and dismembered inside the machine. Ludmilla is knocked unconscious, and by the time the police arrive, Yuri's remains have disappeared.

Detective Inspector Alexander Stacev is assigned to the case, but he immediately treats it as a drunken hallucination rather than a murder. He informs the sisters there is no case, setting a dismissive, adversarial tone for the investigation.

Ludmilla calls Stacev to discuss the case, but Vida corners him and seduces him, insinuating that Ludmilla was jealous and that Yuri arranged it. Stacev rebuffs Vida, but the encounter plants seeds of manipulation that will haunt the investigation.

Nikolai informs Stacev that Yuri's criminal files are missing, hindering clues. The sisters exchange letters from Yuri; Ludmilla claims some letters aren't in Yuri's handwriting, while Maria says she and her blind girlfriend Nidaya teased Yuri to string him along.

Vida convinces Stacev to break into Yuri's apartment; during the break-in she cuffs him to a stairwell and rapes him. The act shows the sisters' willingness to manipulate and control those investigating the case.

Nikolai commits the rookie mistake of not telling their superiors that Stacev's fingerprints were at the scene, and Stacev lambasts him for it. The pair's working relationship frays under suspicion and fear.

The sisters offer a rotating set of stories to explain Yuri's murder, with Ludmilla claiming a clairvoyant dream and Maria admitting past manipulations. Vida further complicates matters by implying Ludmilla's personal history, and Maria Seduces Stacev during a seminar for blind students.

Stacev's relationship with Irina deteriorates as he becomes entangled with the Kolbas; Irina kills herself. In a later moment, a pistol left out adds danger to the already unstable situation.

At headquarters, two German career criminals confirm Yuri arrived at the house outside the time frame claimed by the sisters, undermining their alibis. Ludmilla and Maria each file false confessions while Stacev's tea is drugged, leaving him with disturbing dreams.

Stacev discovers a suitcase of jewels and cash meant for the sisters and hides it at his apartment to build a case. Maria meets him at the conservatory, presents photos of him with the sisters, and uses blackmail while professing love and a desire to run away with him and the riches.

Nikolai burgles the apartment for the jewels but is choked to death by an unseen killer. Stacev is later found dead, his dismembered remains in the washing machine. It is revealed that Yuri, very much alive, is the killer behind Nikolai and Stacev's deaths.

Yuri threatens to kill Maria if she doesn't join the family, and the five pose for a group photo with Stacev still in the washer. In the climax, Maria hurls an iron into Yuri's running bath and electrocutes him, ending his reign of terror, while the sisters laugh and regroup.
