The American Conservatory Theater’s prize‑winning San Francisco production brings Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew” to life as a raucous commedia dell’arte, blending slapstick, pratfalls and earthy humor. It follows the wealthy merchant’s two daughters—genteel, popular Bianca and sharp‑tongued, headstrong Kate—whose marriage prospects differ until the brash Petruchio arrives in Padua and sets out to court and tame the fiery Kate.
