Wisteria, an orphan surviving in a remote corner of the British Empire at the close of the 19th century, endures a bleak existence until she meets Malbus—a powerful, immortal creature with a furry form, equally solitary and relentlessly pursued by hunters. Together they traverse an empire teeming with humans and anthropomorphic beasts, seeking a sanctuary where they might finally coexist in peace.
