Five martial clans, each embodying fire, metal, water, wood or earth, vie for supremacy in an annual competition that crowns the world’s ruler. The story follows one such tournament when, 49 days before it begins, a deadly samurai assassin arrives intent on killing the Water clan’s leader, threatening the balance of power.
