On New Year’s Day 1994, armed Mayan rebels launched the Zapatista uprising, seizing eight towns in Chiapas and exposing a hidden “other Mexico.” Demanding communal land ownership, public services and indigenous autonomy, the EZLN confronted wealthy landowners and state forces. The documentary features extensive interviews, including Subcomandante Marcos, and examines the human cost of rapid global economic integration and the loss of centuries‑old cultures.
