Sir Miles Gaffney refuses to collect rent from his tenants, endangering his estate. He sells part of his stable to an American, who also takes his jockey Neil Ross. After Neil is crippled in a race, Sir Miles and his daughter Sheila go to America with their horse, Dark Rosaleen. John Ford sets film in Ireland and America, blending comedy and drama.
