A candid portrait of Joan, a Filipino transvestite who trains by day and performs as a female impersonator in Manila’s gay bars at night to support a family of eighteen. He makes repeated trips to Japan’s entertainment sector yet struggles to earn enough. Conversations with fellow entertainers expose the hardships they face abroad, echoing Joan’s past brush with a drug bust and imprisonment, and the constant threats that follow these sex warriors.
