In the summer of 1977 the all‑female rock group The Runaways erupted onto the Japanese music scene, quickly rising to become the fourth‑most popular foreign act behind legends such as Led Zeppelin and The Beatles. Their intensive two‑month tour was captured only on low‑fidelity, fifth‑ or sixth‑generation bootleg recordings, limiting the visual quality of the surviving footage.
