The Rescue

In Devil's Bayou, Louisiana, a 6-year-old orphan named Penny places a heartfelt message in a bottle and sends it down the river. This message is a desperate plea for help, indicating her troubled circumstances.

The bottle containing Penny's message washes ashore in New York City and is discovered by the Rescue Aid Society, an international organization of mice. This event sets off a chain reaction that leads to a rescue mission.

Miss Bianca, the Hungarian representative of the Rescue Aid Society, steps up to take on the case of Penny. She recruits Bernard, a timid janitor, to assist her in the critical rescue operation.

Bianca and Bernard visit Penny's former home, the Morningside Orphanage, seeking information about her whereabouts. There, they encounter Rufus, an elderly cat, who warns them about Madame Medusa.

The mice set out to investigate Madame Medusa's pawn shop, believing it holds the key to finding Penny. They uncover her sinister plans involving the kidnapping of Penny and her partners in crime.

At the pawn shop, Bianca and Bernard learn that Penny is being held captive by Medusa and Mr. Snoops in the Devil's Bayou. This shocking revelation urges them to take swift action and rescue Penny.

With assistance from Orville the albatross and Evinrude the dragonfly, the mice embark on a journey to Devil's Bayou. They navigate obstacles while following the trail of Medusa to rescue the kidnapped girl.

Upon arrival at the bayou, Bianca and Bernard learn about Medusa's devious plan to force Penny into a blowhole leading to a hidden cave where the coveted Devil's Eye diamond is located. Time is of the essence as they strategize her rescue.

In a tense moment, Penny, along with the mice hiding in her dress pocket, is sent into the cave to retrieve the Devil's Eye diamond. They encounter numerous obstacles, including rising tides that threaten their escape.

As tensions rise, Medusa reveals her treachery by holding Penny and Snoops at gunpoint while hiding the diamond in Penny's teddy bear. In a stroke of luck, Penny manages to reclaim the diamond amidst the chaos.

With the help of local animals who dislike Medusa, Bernard and Bianca set traps to capture the crocodiles, Brutus and Nero. They disrupt Medusa’s plans further by setting off fireworks to create chaos around the riverboat.

In a wild pursuit, Penny and the mice commandeer Medusa's swamp-mobile as she chases after them using Brutus and Nero. The scene escalates as the riverboat begins to sink due to the fireworks-induced damage.

Medusa clings desperately to the smoke stacks of the sinking boat as her plans collapse around her. Meanwhile, Snoops makes his escape on a raft, laughing at her misfortune while the annoyed crocodiles turn on her.

Back in New York City, a news report reveals that Penny has been adopted and the infamous diamond is now part of the Smithsonian Institution. The Rescue Aid Society celebrates their success while reflecting on their adventure.

Just as the meeting concludes, Evinrude arrives with another call for help, signaling the start of a new adventure for Bernard and Bianca. This hints at more adventures to come for the brave duo.
