A humble man named Dionisio is suddenly blessed with unexpected wealth, but the film shows how quickly luck can turn. As he revels in his new prosperity, he forgets the old maxim that fortunes rise and fall, and the bleak, stagnant town around him offers little mercy, making loss—and even death—seem inevitable.
