The Place Beyond the Pines

In 1997, Luke Glanton, a skilled motorcycle stuntman, unexpectedly reunites with his former lover, Romina Gutierrez. During this encounter, he discovers that he is the father of Romina's son, Jason, who was born the previous year.

Motivated by his desire to connect with Romina and Jason, Luke decides to leave the traveling carnival behind. He relocates to Schenectady to be closer to his estranged family, hoping to forge a new life.

Luke finds work as a part-time mechanic, collaborating with Robin Van Der Hook. During their time together, Robin reveals his criminal past and introduces Luke to the idea of committing heists to make quick money.
