After an extended stay in England, Sophie Lang returns to America. Beautiful, sophisticated, and infamous as a jewel thief, she soon draws the attention of a determined New York police detective. He devises a seemingly foolproof trap: he sends a charming, suave con man who is also a jewel thief, traveling under an assumed name, hoping Sophie will fall for him and expose herself.
