Peter Nichols adapts his own hospital‑based play into a sharp black comedy that juxtaposes the grim, overcrowded London ward with a soap opera blaring from its TVs. The same actors—Lynn Redgrave, Colin Blakely and a young Bob Hoskins—play both the “real” patients and the TV characters. Directed by Jack Gould, the film features a Carl Davis score.
