After Southern belle Elizabeth Lloyd elopes to marry Yankee Jack Sherman, her father—a gruff former Confederate colonel—swears off speaking to her. Years later Elizabeth returns to her hometown with Jack and their young daughter. The little girl wins over her crusty grandfather, gently nudging him toward reconciliation with his daughter.
