Set in 1940 Kenya as the nation prepares for war, the series depicts the local aristocratic social set living a decadent, self‑indulgent lifestyle that spirals into murder and scandal. The same real events were later dramatized in the feature film White Mischief, released just seven months after the first transmission of The Happy Valley.
