In 2017, Mexico was recognized as one of the world’s most dangerous conflict zones, rivaling Syria. The film documents the consequences of the Mexican government's 2008 deployment of the army to Chihuahua, near the Texas border, in an attempt to combat drug traffickers. This action tragically resulted in state-sponsored disappearances and the targeting of journalists, activists, and civilians. Survivors, fearing for their safety, sought asylum at the U.S. border, while immigration lawyer Carlos Spector worked tirelessly to secure political asylum for those fleeing the escalating violence, against the backdrop of the Juarez Valley's fading beauty.
