A motley crew is forced to spend the night at a remote railway station where strange occurrences and local myths of a ghost train create an unsettling mood. The supposed haunting is actually a cover for smuggling, and one passenger is revealed to be a detective pursuing the smugglers. The film adapts Arnold Ridley's 1923 play The Ghost Train.
