Two years after her last adventure, Kate Pierce finds herself discontent in Cancún, Mexico. Stuck with her mom, brother, and her mom's new boyfriend, she's yearning for a snowy Christmas back home in Boston.

Determined to leave Cancún and return home, Kate concocts a plan to escape the tropical paradise. She sneaks onto a shuttle, thinking it will take her back to Boston, but is unaware of the true journey ahead.

Kate and Jack, her newfound companion, are unexpectedly transported to the North Pole instead of Boston. They are greeted by Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, who warmly invite them into their enchanting world.

Santa takes Kate and Jack on a tour of the bustling village at the North Pole, sharing the wonders of Christmas magic. The children are captivated by the joyful atmosphere and the spirit of the holidays.

The festivities are interrupted as Belsnickel, a mischievous Christmas elf, reveals his resentment towards Santa. He shares a tragic backstory, expressing his feelings of neglect, which leads him to unleash chaos upon the village.

In a dramatic turn, Belsnickel steals the magical Star of Bethlehem, plunging the North Pole into darkness. This artifact is crucial as it has the power to pause time and enhance the holiday spirit.

As chaos ensues, the elves become frenzied and the holiday spirit fades. A snowball fight breaks out, providing Belsnickel the perfect distraction to flee with the star, deepening the crisis.

To restore joy to the North Pole, Santa and Kate embark on a journey to Turkey to enlist the help of the forest elves. Their mission is to create a new star to combat the darkness left by Belsnickel.

Meanwhile, Jack bravely ventures out on his own to find a root that can cure the crazed elves. He demonstrates determination as he seeks help for the villagers in distress, with Mrs. Claus tending to the injured.

Just as Santa and Kate are about to return to the North Pole, their flight is intercepted by Belsnickel. He plans to send them back to 1990 Boston using a time-travel device hidden on Santa's sleigh.

Desperate to retrieve AAA batteries for the device, Kate finds herself at an airport in a precarious situation due to a mix-up with money. She meets Doug, a child who helps her escape the clutches of airport security.

Through her experience with Doug, who embodies the spirit of her late father, Kate regains her lost Christmas spirit. Together with a staff member named Grace, they organize a spontaneous Christmas song to uplift the crowd.

With the revived Christmas spirit in the airport, Santa is able to restore their flight back to the North Pole. Kate and Jack successfully reclaim the magical star and prepare to confront Belsnickel.

Back at the North Pole, Mrs. Claus skillfully transforms the root into a calming powder. She uses it to calm the frantic elves, bringing order back to the chaotic village and reinstating holiday cheer.

In a heartfelt conclusion, Kate reinstates the Star on the Christmas tree, bringing warmth back to the village. As Santa gifts Belsnickel a cherished toy, the village comes together for a joyful rendition of 'O Christmas Tree'.
