Cliff’s night finally comes to a quiet close after a whirlwind of mishaps, confessions and fleeting kisses. After the chaotic tow‑yard rescue and the impromptu crash‑the‑wedding stunt, Didi takes him out on the small boat she bought for her ex‑husband. They drift together, catching a soft‑shell crab and sharing a brief, tender moment where Didi pretends to be cold and asks Cliff to wrap his hands around her. The romance feels undeniable—until Brittany appears at the dock, having tracked him with a device and assuming he’s spiralling back into addiction. She rushes away, leaving Cliff bewildered but oddly relieved; the relationship with her has always been a tug‑of‑war between her desire for stability and his need to perform.

Later, Brittany is pulled over for drunk driving. Cliff, still bound by a lingering sense of responsibility, calls his uncle‑lawyer and bails her out. Lost but no longer aimless, Cliff roams the streets searching for Didi. She spots him, and the two decide to give a real relationship a chance. Didi makes it clear she isn’t interested in a fleeting fling, and Cliff, finally free from the shackles of his past and his fiancé’s expectations, embraces the possibility of love and comedy together. The film ends on a hopeful note: a recovering comic, a resilient dentist, and a promise that, for the first time in a long while, both are choosing each other deliberately.
