Twelve-year-old Zoran finds himself isolated in Belfast when a strange volcanic ash cloud descends, trapping him at home with his elderly neighbor. The ash carries a dangerous contagion, rapidly transforming people into monstrous creatures covered in black ooze. As the city descends into chaos and his neighbor shows signs of infection, Zoran realizes that survival will be a desperate fight, and that nowhere is truly safe from the spreading ash.
