Dawood Mohammed Ali Khan Yusufzai grows up as an orphan living under Ameena Bai's care at a community home. He works at Kitaab Ghar, a publishing house, pursuing stories and dreams. The opening establishes his loyalty to the people who treat him like family and his hopeful, gentle nature.

Dawood finds a manuscript in a bus that bears the name and address of the writer Kaynat Mirza. He tracks her down and arranges a meeting with the writer and with Sulaiman the editor to discuss Kainat's work. This discovery pulls him into both romance and the publishing world.

One night, Rahim Shaikh storms into Dawood's home with the bejeweled Sultana and demands shelter. He threatens Dawood with violence unless the woman can stay. The next morning, Ameena Bai and the neighbors mistake Sultana for Dawood's wife and prepare a celebratory feast.

Police arrive and Rahim is arrested amid the chaos. Rahim's goons warn Dawood and Sultana to stay together until Rahim is released and confirms Sultana's claim. The incident drags Sultana into a dangerous underworld and tests Dawood's loyalty.
