Set in Mexico City, the film confronts a taboo subject with unflinching honesty. Sisters Maria and Elena become rivals for the affection of Rodolfo, a local pimp. Elena abandons a loveless marriage to an elderly banker and seeks refuge with Rodolfo, while Maria, a sex worker, struggles to survive alongside a close‑knit community of fellow workers, confronting exploitative clients and daily hardship.
