Set in August 1913, a strike at a Cornish clay pit prompts the deployment of Welsh police to maintain order. With no other means of support, a striking miner reluctantly takes a police officer in as a lodger. Their uneasy partnership deepens into friendship, but rising unrest at the pit makes a violent clash unavoidable.
