Sleepaway Camper

During a family boating trip, John Baker and Peter die when the boat capsizes and is struck by a motorboat. Angela survives the crash, leaving her traumatized by the loss and the unknown fate of the other child.

Eight years after the accident, Angela is deeply traumatized and lives with her aunt, Dr. Martha Thomas, and cousin Ricky. She remains withdrawn and haunted by memories of the tragedy.

Angela and Ricky are sent to Camp Arawak for the summer, in an attempt to give Angela a fresh start and routine away from home. The camp environment brings new people, routines, and pressures. Angela's past continues to loom over her.

Early in the camp season, Artie the head cook makes an aggressive move toward Angela, attempting to assault her. An unseen figure intervenes and Artie is severely scalded by boiling water. Camp owner Mel Kostic dismisses the incident as an accident.

Kenny and Mike bully Angela, prompting Ricky and Paul to confront them. Paul then reaches out and befriends Angela, offering her a form of solidarity in the hostile environment.

Kenny's canoe capsizes and he drowns during a lake incident. Mel rules the death an accident, leaving no immediate lead on a killer at work.

Billy is trapped in a public toilet with a beehive, exploiting his allergy, and dies from the resulting attack. The death hints at a deliberate killer in the camp.

Meg is found dead after a fatal impaling in the shower, a death that shakes the camp and raises suspicions of a killer on the premises. The tragedy escalates the sense that someone is targeting campers.

Judy seduces Paul, and Angela discovers them kissing. Paul’s explanation fails to ease the tension, and Judy and Meg push Angela into the water, deepening the fear that Angela is being targeted.

Six young campers throw sand at Angela, a moment that leaves her vulnerable. Ricky comforts her and swears revenge against those who hurt his cousin, intensifying the camp’s dangerous mood.

Following a camp social, Eddie discovers the bodies of the four campers who had thrown sand at Angela, and panic spreads as more bodies surface, including Judy’s. The camp tightens under the shadow of a killer.

Mel suspects Ricky as the killer and attacks him, then is killed by an arrow in the woods, revealing the killer is still at large and close to home. The camp descends into a manhunt for the murderer.

Police search the area and Paul keeps company with Angela by the water; Officer Breton later finds Ricky alive but unconscious, suggesting not all victims have been accounted for. The tension peaks as authorities close in.

In a chilling twist, counselors Ronnie and Susie find Angela’s nude, blood-covered form clutching Paul’s severed head. It is revealed that Peter, thought to be dead, survived and is living as Angela; the real Angela died in the boating accident, and Martha has raised Peter as the daughter she always wanted.
