The film opens with Lester Bacon living on a farm whose traditional hog farming has been replaced by a cold, factory-style slaughterhouse. This shift foreshadows the tension between old rural life and modern corporate interests over the land. The atmosphere hints at a community losing its rural identity as development encroaches.

The next night, Buddy kills two teenagers, Kevin Matthews and Michelle Mitchell, at Lovers Lane. The brutal killings mark Buddy’s first direct act of violence in the story and set the killer on the path of escalating brutality. The incident triggers the chain of violent events that follow at the slaughterhouse.

Lester is visited by his attorney Harold Murdock, partner Tom Sanford, and Sheriff Fred Borden who offer $55,000 to buy his land and the closed-down slaughterhouse. He refuses the deal, showing stubborn attachment to the property. Then Fred informs him that foreclosure is looming and he has 30 days to vacate.

The assessor’s office forecloses on Lester’s property, giving him a 30-day deadline to leave. The looming loss of home and livelihood deepens the community’s animosity and increases the sense of danger around the Bacon homestead. The conflict over land becomes a catalyst for the ensuing violence.

High-schoolers Skip, Buzz, Annie, and Liz—Sheriff Borden’s daughter—plan to shoot a horror video and believe the area around the Bacon Slaughterhouse will provide the perfect setting. Their lighthearted plan contrasts with the darkness gathering nearby. The teens’ presence foreshadows the looming danger.

Back at Lester's property, Buddy shows him the dead bodies of Michelle and Kevin and revels in their deaths. Lester’s reaction reveals his own moral corruption as he remarks that Tom, Harold, and Fred deserve such a fate. The moment solidifies the family’s descent into brutality.

Deputy Dave Thomas goes to the slaughterhouse to look for the missing couple. He discovers a dead hanging cat, a grisly omen of what’s to come. Buddy then kills Dave by chopping off his hand, beginning the spree of murders inside the slaughterhouse.

Harold Murdock arrives on the scene, only to be crushed by Buddy. The brutal act removes one of the men who came to negotiate with Lester and signals the rapid acceleration of violence. The fear grows as more members of the party become targets.

Buddy steals Dave’s squad car and chases Dave’s girlfriend Sally Duncan, who flees in terror. He catches her and cuts her throat, demonstrating escalating ruthlessness. The night grows darker as the killer roams the grounds and surrounding roads.

Tom Sanford arrives at the slaughterhouse; Lester lures him into the processing room, where Buddy drops him into a meat grinder. The gruesome death shows the killers’ reach and the slaughterhouse’s brutal environment has fully become a killing ground. The body count continues to mount.

Fred finds Dave’s abandoned car and calls for backup, realizing something catastrophic is unfolding. The discovery marks the escalation from personal killings to a broader breakdown of law and order. Tension builds as more people head toward the slaughterhouse.

Liz and her friends arrive at the slaughterhouse and split up, unaware of the danger lurking inside. This division sets up multiple threads of danger that will collide in the final acts. The eerie environment heightens fear as they move through the dark, altered spaces.

Buddy kills Skip, Annie, and Buzz in rapid succession, cutting down the remaining teens at close range. The rapid onslaught eliminates potential rescuers and leaves Liz as the last major survivor. The carnage emphasizes Buddy’s unrelenting brutality.

Liz shoots Lester with her father’s gun and makes a desperate attempt to escape. She tries to flee in Fred’s car, hoping to leave the nightmare behind. The act marks a temporary shift in control before the final twist of danger arrives.

As Liz drives away, Buddy rises from the backseat and kills Fred, then lunges at Liz with his knife. The film ends on Liz’s terrified scream, signaling that the nightmare may not be over. The abrupt cliffhanger underlines the perpetrators’ resilience and the survivors’ precarious fate.
