Marquis Sévéro, a wealthy Parisian, wants to divorce his wife and marry his goddaughter Denise, but she loves his engineer André Berval. Jealous, Sévéro sends André to the Antilles to prospect land he has acquired and orders his manager Alvarez to keep André away. In the tropics André rescues native girl Papitou from Alvarez’s assault; she becomes his protector. Alvarez, enraged, plots against André while Papitou is distressed learning André plans to marry Denise.
