Rhiannon is an outlaw who has stashed a million dollars worth of gold stolen from the Great Western Mining Company. This stash sets off the chain of events that drives the plot. It also makes him a target for the town’s law and for those who want the gold.

The sheriff from the town of Goldville, Jim Caradac, hides inside a stagecoach reported to be carrying more of the company's gold. He intends to keep watch from within the transport rather than risk a direct confrontation in town. The setup foreshadows a tense clash when the coach is attacked.

Rhiannon pulls off the hold-up of the stagecoach carrying Caradac and Nan Morgan. Caradac tries to intervene but is quickly disarmed, and the strong box is revealed to contain only sand. The moment underlines Rhiannon's ruthless efficiency.

Rhiannon forces Caradac to walk down the middle of the street in a pair of women's underwear. The town gathers to jeer at the scene, turning the successful robbery into a humiliating spectacle for the sheriff. This act marks Rhiannon's deliberate punishment of Caradac.

Caradac chases Rhiannon but is outmaneuvered. Rhiannon shoots Caradac from a distance, ending the immediate threat he posed. The town holds its breath as the outlaw's fate hangs in the balance.

Rhiannon escorts Caradac to Dr. Jonathan Mark, who is also the town preacher. The doctor diagnoses Caradac as in need of a blood transfusion and explains the risk of his injuries. He then convinces Rhiannon to be the donor by drugging him, in a bid to save a life while beginning to steer Rhiannon toward a change of life.

A judge arrives and deputizes Rhiannon, convincing him to take over Caradac's duties until he can return. Rhiannon agrees reluctantly, seeing an opportunity to control the big three-week shipment. The arrangement places him in a legal role while still being an outlaw.

That evening Nan asks for Rhiannon's help ejecting a drunken man, Mike Murphy, from her saloon. The confrontation also brings him into contact with Richards, the local mining company manager. The incidents reveal Nan's growing stake in the gold and her willingness to manipulate men to get it.

By Sunday morning the jail is packed with drunks, and Rhiannon releases them. He makes each one promise to attend church or face a $10 fine, using humor and leverage to enforce public order. The scene shows his growing sense of social responsibility.

The Great Western Mine catches fire and miners are trapped inside. Rhiannon risks his own life to save them, including Mike Murphy. Nan recognizes Rhiannon as the assailant who attacked her stagecoach and decides to report it to Jim.

The doctor reveals he has known about Rhiannon's past and wants to help him go straight. He suggests continuing the medical work while nudging him toward a law-abiding life. The plan creates a fragile alliance between medicine, faith, and reform.

Nan, aided by Mike, helps Rhiannon escape from jail by pretending to be romantically interested in him. They go to Rhiannon's hideout, where the stolen gold is hidden, and Nan pistol-whips Rhiannon to seize the gold. Nan flees with the gold, while Caradac's trap tightens.

Caradac reveals that he gave Nan the jail key and that she will tell them the gold's location. The ambush narrows to a manhunt with Nan as the linchpin between the stolen treasure and law enforcement. The town braces for a quick follow-up.

Rhiannon rides back to town to confront Caradac, suspecting a setup involving Nan. Doc interrupts the standoff and reprimands both men for their boasts. Caradac and Rhiannon join forces to defeat Richards and his men, allowing Nan and Mike to return with a receipt for the gold.

Rhiannon ultimately surrenders himself to the law, choosing to go straight. Nan and Mike return with proof of the gold’s possession, and Caradac gives Rhiannon his blessing to live honestly. Doc expresses relief that Rhiannon has decided to reform.
