A husband, angry his wife cannot conceive, leaves after a fight. She attempts suicide by overdosing; at ER he learns she was pregnant and the overdose caused a miscarriage. Enraged, he sues for property damage and breach of trust. She hires a feminist lawyer from New York to defend her in Newnan, Georgia, sparking a tense battle over control and loss.
