Shuddh Desi Romance

Raghu Ram, a local tour guide in Jaipur, finds himself in an unconventional role as a rental Baraati for a wedding planner named Goyal. As he gears up for his own marriage, the pressure builds, and he faces the notorious pre-wedding jitters. Having opted for the premium package from Goyal, Raghu is dismayed when he realizes that he wanted at least two or three elegantly dressed English-speaking girls to dazzle his in-laws, but that may not be in the cards.

During the preparation phase, he crosses paths with Gayatri, an open-minded and fiercely independent woman. Unknown to Raghu, she’s a fake Baraati, also hired by Goyal to add some flair to his wedding procession. Charging Rs 4000 for a two-day appearance, Gayatri quickly strikes a conversation with Raghu on the bus, revealing her splendidly free-spirited nature. As they talk, Raghu shares his fears about marriage while Gayatri regales him with tales of her past relationships, leaving him smitten. It’s a drastic contrast to his own reserved nature, and before long, Raghu impulsively kisses her.

As arrangements for the wedding reach a climax, Raghu spots his bride-to-be, who is stunningly beautiful. The profound conflict within him surfaces as he realizes his attraction to Gayatri. Just when he’s supposed to wed, he makes an audacious decision to run away, feeling that marriage would ruin both his and the girl’s lives.

A couple of weeks later, fate intertwines Raghu and Gayatri’s paths once again. Raghu confesses the feelings he garnered from their brief moment together, believing there’s something worth exploring between them. Their chemistry ignites a romance, leading to a live-in relationship. However, complications arise when Mr. Gupta (character not included in cast info) stirs doubt in Raghu’s mind about Gayatri’s past. He learns of a previous relationship where Gayatri faced betrayal and a heartbreaking abortion, causing tension between the couple.

Despite the misunderstandings, the two resolve to marry, but on the fateful day, Gayatri has cold feet and bolts, leaving Raghu utterly flabbergasted. Life takes another twist when Raghu encounters Tara, his ex-fiancée, during her brother’s wedding. Initially seeking revenge for Raghu’s abrupt departure, their rekindled connection turns serious as Tara reveals her own hurt.

Before Raghu can propose, he runs into Gayatri again. A mix of fate and emotion brings them closer, but the two seem fated to misunderstand each other’s intentions. Their journey is compounded by a surprise dinner invitation by Tara, where tensions flare as secrets are unveiled, and love confessions tumble out.

As their wedding date looms, both Raghu and Gayatri find themselves evading matrimony and racing towards each other, leading to a heart-stopping moment at Gayatri’s home. There, Raghu openly admits his love but still grapples with the confines of traditional marriage, culminating in a passionate kiss as they forge a path together in a society full of expectations.
