Raghavaraju, [Prakash Raj], is a farming landlord in the Andhra Pradesh village of Atreyapuram. He lives in an ancestral house that has housed generations as a single, sprawling joint family, sharing the space with his wife, Janakamma, [Jayasudha], and his extended kin: his nephew Bangarraju, [Naresh], and their son Raju, [Sharwanand]. Their children have grown up apart from the main household, with Ravi, [Ravikanth], and Kalyan, [Satish], living abroad in the United States or other distant places, while Jhansi, [Indraja], stays nearer to home and maintains a close bond with the grandparents. After a ten-year gap, all of his children return to the village during Makara Sankranti under mysterious circumstances, prompted by an email from Raghavaraju that hints at his wish to divorce his wife.

Nithya, [Anupama Parameswaran], is Jhansi’s daughter, and she soon forms a quiet, undeniable connection with Raju, [Sharwanand], who is Bangarraju’s son. The siblings begin to reunite the family’s frayed threads as Nithya and Raju quietly nurture their bond, though they struggle to voice their feelings openly. Jhansi urges Raju to temper his hopes about Nithya’s affections, adding a layer of tension to the budding romance.

As the family reels from old grievances and new loyalties, Raghavaraju and Janakamma reveal a pivot: they are not getting a divorce, but choosing to live separately so Janakamma can be happy with her children. Raghavaraju’s primary wish is to see his wife content, and he sends an email inviting his children home so they can support their mother. In a move aimed at underscoring the value of family, Raju, [Sharwanand], sends the divorce papers to a lawyer, a gesture that shakes the younger generation and forces a reckoning about priorities and unity.

Gradually, the family begins to recognize the distance their choices created, and they start to mend their relationships. Jhansi accepts Nithya and Raju’s marriage, and the entire clan come together to celebrate Sankranti with renewed warmth and a shared resolve to stay connected. They promise to reunite again for Ugadi, and in a quiet, poignant moment, Nithya expresses a heartfelt wish to stay with her grandparents and be part of the extended family’s future.
