Ada, a twenty‑year‑old costume designer, and Lise, about thirty, both chase a breakthrough in the film industry. While working on movie jobs, Lise meets producer Alphonse, nearly twenty years older; unhappy with his girlfriend, he begins a secret affair with her. Ada faces her own struggles, and the story also follows the younger Emma and Nina, plus Yves and Guido, weaving a tangled web of relationships.
