Arivu, an IT professional in Chennai, and Anbu, a village government counsellor, are brothers who clash often yet care for one another. Their parents were an eloped love marriage who raised them with a mix of discipline and affection. The film establishes their contrasting lives against a shared family history.

Anbu's mother pressures him for an arranged marriage, but he resists. The engagement is fixed, and Arivu travels from Chennai to attend the wedding. This event marks the beginning of a cascade of misunderstandings and new attractions.

At the engagement, a girl mistakenly accuses Arivu of harassing her friend. Once the truth comes out, the girl avoids him, but Arivu is unexpectedly drawn to her. The awkward moment plants the seed of his growing attraction to Aruna.
