Sandglass, a 1995 South Korean SBS drama written by Song Ji‑na and directed by Kim Jong‑hak, follows three friends whose lives are torn by the political turmoil and civilian oppression of 1970s‑80s Korea. Blending politics, melodrama, and action, it earned a peak 64.5% viewership—the third‑highest ever—and catapulted stars Choi Min‑soo, Go Hyun‑jung and Park Sang‑won to fame. Its stark depiction of the Gwangju Massacre remains a landmark moment in Korean television.
