River of Blood

In the final stretch of Paka: River of Blood, the cycle of vengeance that has ruled the two families finally snaps. After his younger brother Paachi is killed, Johnny confronts Joey—the man who had been hunting him for revenge. In a brutal showdown Johnny kills Joey, then discards the knives and sickles that have long been the symbols of the feud by tossing them into the river. That act is meant to signal that the blood‑paid‑blood tradition is over.

With the immediate threat eliminated, Johnny and Anna are free to marry. The film shows them together, later with a newborn child, suggesting that they have managed to carve out a quiet, hopeful future away from the violence that haunted their ancestors.

However, the ending is not a tidy closure. The camera lingers on Varkey’s teenage grandson, who watches a photograph of his dead grandfather and seems to inherit the same thirst for retaliation. This lingering shot hints that the hatred may still smolder beneath the surface, ready to erupt in a new generation. So while Johnny and Anna succeed in breaking the personal chain of revenge, the larger feud remains an open wound, leaving the audience to wonder whether peace will truly endure.
