Jung-woo [Yoon Kye-sang] is a director of adult films who entered the industry from a genuine love of cinema but has spent a decade stuck making erotic movies. His bedridden father is visibly unhappy with his career, casting a quiet tension over Jung-woo’s choices. Eun-soo [Go Joon-hee] is a former child actress who has just moved back to Korea to pursue acting. After she falls for a fake rental listing on Jung-woo’s apartment, she ends up rooming with him until she can sort out her next steps. She soon uncovers a deeper layer to Jung-woo’s ambitions—a screenplay for his dream project, An Officer and A Nurse—revealing his talent as a writer and hinting at a wider artistic path beyond his current work.

While trying to break into legitimate acting, Eun-soo finds herself navigating Jung-woo’s world. He helps her attend real open calls and coaches her monologues, even as he keeps up the façade of their everyday routine. As they spend more time together, their professional collaboration slowly blossoms into something warmer, and they begin to develop genuine feelings for each other. After Eun-soo lands a role, she gifts Jung-woo a projector to show his dream project to the world. But when she returns home, she discovers a steaming silhouette of a woman by the front door, a sign of illicit noises. Unbeknownst to her, Jung-woo had brought the porn crew back for budget-driven reshoots. Feeling betrayed, Eun-soo vanishes from his life, leaving Jung-woo to confront the fallout.

Jung-woo sits alone in a bar, his thoughts wandering as time passes and the scenery around him seems to shift, revealing Eun-soo’s rise in popularity and stardom. Eventually, Jung-woo and his crew summon the courage to quit their porn gigs and pursue An Officer and A Nurse together. Eun-soo and Jung-woo reconcile and commit to making the project despite the pressures surrounding them. However, paparazzi soon uncover the on-set collaboration, threatening Eun-soo’s carefully crafted image. To protect her, Jung-woo stages a candid press conference and denounces any romantic relationship while refusing to deny the work they have produced together, and his father’s blessing gives him renewed confidence to chase his dream.

Their film enters the festival circuit, landing a spot at a small community festival in Busan on the same day that Eun-soo’s new film premieres. When the assistant director arrives with an invitation, Eun-soo rushes to catch the screening as reporters trail behind. At the festival, Jung-woo publicly confesses his love for Eun-soo, and they share a meaningful embrace. The story closes with An Officer and A Nurse gaining acceptance into major film festivals, and the crew finding success in the mainstream film industry and abroad.
