Pure Luck

The film kicks off with Valerie Highsmith, a notably clumsy individual, arriving at an airport in Puerto Vallarta. Excited about her arrival, she leans recklessly over a balcony but suffers a serious fall onto a canvas below.

After her fall, Valerie wanders the streets of Puerto Vallarta only to be knocked unconscious by a group of thieves. This incident results in her losing her memory, setting off a chain of unfortunate events.

Meanwhile, Valerie's father, alarmed by her absence, enlists the help of a psychologist named Monosoff. He suggests sending Eugene Proctor, an accountant known for his own misfortunes, to locate her in Mexico.

Eugene is paired with Raymond Campanella, a dedicated investigator. Their journey together is marked by Eugene's countless blunders that frustrate Raymond as they search for Valerie in Mexico.

Their search quickly descends into chaos with broken luggage and poor living conditions. They find themselves involved in unexpected bar fights, further complicating their mission to find Valerie.

After a series of misadventures, the local police inform the duo that Valerie's last known associate was Frank Grimes, a local criminal. This revelation sends them in search of Frank in hopes of finding Valerie.

Determined to find answers, Eugene approaches a local prostitute for information regarding Valerie. However, he ends up being robbed by her, intensifying their ongoing misfortune.

Raymond and Eugene confront Grimes at a gambling club to extract information about Valerie. Grimes reveals his own misfortunes related to caring for Valerie, leading to a complicated understanding of her situation.

As they leave the gambling club, tragedy strikes when Grimes is killed in a drive-by shooting. Shortly after, Raymond and Eugene find themselves wrongly arrested by the police, adding to their trials.

Upon their release, they discover that Grimes had sent Valerie on a plane to Mexico City, but it never landed. This dire news leads them to believe that she might have perished in a plane crash.

Determined to find any evidence of Valerie, Eugene and Raymond charter a plane to search for the wreckage. Their hope of discovering Valerie alive keeps their spirits somewhat high despite the surrounding calamities.

During the flight, Eugene suffers an allergic reaction to a bee sting, causing him to swell dramatically. This unexpected turn adds another layer of difficulty to their desperate search.

At a local hospital, a villager mentions a mysterious woman who accidentally burned down a village in gratitude for shelter. Intrigued, Raymond shows the man Valerie’s picture, and he reacts in fear.

Raymond and Eugene set off to find the scorched village, believing it may lead them to Valerie. However, their journey is marred by Eugene's reckless driving, which nearly ends in disaster.

After a series of chaotic events, Eugene awakens to find Valerie beside him in a hospital. Their joyful reunion prompts Valerie to regain her memory, leading them away towards another unexpected adventure.
