In the Bodega Bay Inn, rogue agent Maclain reads André Toulon's diary hoping to uncover the secret of the formula. The diary suddenly bursts into flames, cutting off her search and hinting that dangerous forces guard Toulon's legacy. The fiery break-in sets the mystery into motion and raises the stakes for what she will uncover.

Maclain travels to the hotel basement where she finds Eric Weiss speaking with the last Toulon puppets—Blade, Pinhead, Jester, Tunneler, and Six-Shooter. Weiss reveals that he knew Toulon before he died and that he swore he wouldn't pass the secret to anyone else. The encounter ends with a tense admission of dangerous secrets tied to Toulon's legacy.
