Pitch Black

In a distant future where interstellar travel is the norm, the spaceship Hunter-Gratzner departs with approximately 40 passengers aboard, all in cryo-sleep. Among them is Riddick, a notorious criminal, who remains awake, setting the stage for the chaos to follow.

After 22 weeks in transit, the ship's hull is breached by debris from a rogue comet or meteor storm. This catastrophic event awakens the crew and passengers abruptly, resulting in the chaos that ultimately leads to the captain's death.

As the ship spirals toward an uncharted planet, Docking pilot Carolyn Fry and navigator Greg Owens scramble to regain control while attempting to send a distress signal. In a desperate move, Fry jettisons parts of the ship to stabilize their descent, resulting in a harrowing crash landing in a sun-scorched landscape.

Only 11 survivors emerge from the wreckage, facing a desolate and hostile environment. As they assess their dire situation, they realize the harsh conditions, including a lack of water and uncertain breathing environments, complicate their survival efforts.

Riddick, initially chained and feared, uses his unique abilities to escape captivity. His actions instill fear among the survivors, adding tension to an already precarious group dynamic, although young Jack seems to idolize him for his skills.

As the survivors explore their surroundings, they quickly realize they are not alone. The planet is home to deadly alien predators that thrive under the light of the three suns, and they must navigate this new threat while searching for a means of escape.

During their search for safety, the group stumbles upon a long-abandoned settlement filled with remnants of a once-thriving community. Here, they find a moisture-recovery machine, which provides them with much-needed water, offering a glimmer of hope in their dire situation.

As they begin to feel a sense of relief, Fry learns that an ominous eclipse is approaching, which will plunge them into darkness for an extended period. This impending threat intensifies their struggle for survival against the predatory aliens that lurk nearby.

With the darkness looming overhead, trust becomes a luxury as the survivors wrestle with complex relationships. The line between ally and enemy blurs as they forge unforeseen alliances or betrayals in a desperate bid for survival.
