The wife persuades Patouillard to buy the latest newspaper fashions, and they spend a day shopping. She returns in a dress so tight she can barely walk, swaps it for trousers, but becomes the subject of ridicule. When the trousers get soaked at the seaside, Patouillard stuffs her into a jute sack and forces her to hop home.
